ALUMINIUM COURSES

2-DAY COURSE IN FUNDAMENTAL ALUMINIUM TECHNOLOGY

The course is relevant for you who:
Works in the aluminium industry, or has connection to is, and wishes to know more about the possibilities of using aluminium.

The course consists of the following modules:

  1. Introduction to aluminium.

  2. The history of aluminium.

  3. Raw material production.

  4. Qualities and characteristics.

  5. Metallurgy and hardening mechanisms.

  6. Aluminium’s corrosion characteristics.

  7. Manufacturing of aluminium semi-products.

  8. Refinement of aluminium semi-products.

  9. Surface treatment of aluminium.

  10. Joining of aluminium.

  11. Test methods.

  12. Introduction to quality management.

The course will strengthen your knowledge of:
How the aluminium industry has contributed to influence the industrial development. You will obtain knowledge of the individual processes and their inventors. Furthermore, you will obtain knowledge of the individual production processes from raw material to semi-product. You will be able to better understand the interdependence between characteristics, micro structure and manufacturing as well as get a general understand of the fundamental strength increase methods, alloys and heat treatment of aluminium. You will receive a general introduction to the different machining and joining methods as well as the different surface treatment processes of aluminium.

Teachers:

The course is elaborated by AluCluster and to make the course more interesting and beneficial for the participants, there are two teachers:

Engineer, Hans Schmidt Lindholm, has an education as production engineer and during the last 15 years he has worked with education, project management, marketing and logistics. He is employed by Syddansk Erhvervs Akademi and EUC Syd and teaches here in both theoretical and practical use of aluminium. He has great experience with education projects and is among others one of the creators of the new fundamental education of aluminium operators as well as fundamental and supplementary training within the aluminium industry.

Graduate Engineer, Mr Morten Simonsen, has 30 years of experience within the paint and varnish industry such as corrosion, corrosion protection and technical service. Moreover, Mr Simonsen has wide experience of project management, quality management systems and problem solving. He has teached both technical matters and quality management systems for more than 25 years.
